Landlord flushed with success over bathroom refits

A major improvement programme to homes across North Shropshire has hit a key milestone with the completion of the 650th fully refurbished kitchen and bathroom.
 
Social landlord, Meres & Mosses Housing Association, has embarked on a wide ranging series of improvements on the properties it owns since the day it took over the homes from the former North Shropshire District Council in 2007.
 
As well as the 650 new bathrooms and kitchens, 620 homes have had new double-glazed windows, 250 have new central heating and high-security external doors have been fitted to more than 1800 homes.
 
To mark the latest milestone, Twyfords, the company that has supplied 500 of the new bathrooms to date is presenting MMHA with £1,200 worth of free fixtures to be used for a bathroom adaptation for a disabled resident.
 
The new disabled bathroom installation has been carried out by maintenance firm, Total Response Limited, which, along with MMHA, is part of Shropshire Housing Group.
 
Meres & Mosses Housing Association managing director, Jennie Barfoot, said: "To know that we have improved the homes of so many of our tenants with these high quality new bathrooms is very satisfying for everyone at Meres & Mosses Housing Association - and hopefully doubly satisfying for those whose homes have received them!
 
"This is also an excellent example of teamwork and partnership. We have employed an occupational therapist to assess the needs of disabled residents who are having improvement works carried out and the adaptation work has been done by Total Response Limited. This integrated process has seen the project moving swiftly and smoothly, using high quality fittings from our chosen supplier, Twyfords. When MMHA took over as landlord from the former council these are the kinds of benefits that were highlighted to the community and from day one we have been determined to deliver them as promised."
 
The 500th Twyfords bathroom was completed for Mr Donald Gibson, of Wem, and includes assistive adaptations. Mr Gibson said: ‘This is great, I am really happy with my new shower, thank you MMHA’.
