Customer service tops list for new Housing Association head

02 July 2007

The first Managing Director of the new Meres and Mosses Housing Association (MMHA) in north Shropshire has placed customer service and the supply of good quality homes amongst her top priorities.

Jennie Barfoot, who took up her post this week (July 2), was formerly Head of Focus Housing for Midland Heart in Birmingham. Her new role sees her heading up MMHA, which is being formed by the transfer of more than 2,300 homes from North Shropshire District Council later this summer. The transfer follows a ballot of tenants which was resoundingly in favour of the move.

MMHA, together with South Shropshire Housing Association and the housing  repairs and maintenance specialists Total Response Ltd , will also become subsidiaries of  the new Shropshire Housing Group later this summer.

Jennie, aged 45 , who lives in Heath Hayes, near Cannock with her husband and four sons,  will be based at Wem and will head up a team of over 30 staff whose jobs transfer into the Housing Association from the District Council.

Jennie said: “I am concentrating on how we can make the most difference to our tenants and staff as we move forward with developing excellent customer services, supplying good quality homes in a good quality environment and developing a happy and motivating atmosphere for all MMHA staff.

“I am looking forward to spending time with my team members and to getting to know our tenants and the towns and villages of North Shropshire. Building local partnerships with the Council and other local agencies will also play an important role as we move forward. “
